Employee Spotlight – Jordan Cannon

How did you get started in this field?

I attended college from August of 2010 to December of 2015, my goal from the start of school was to obtain a degree in Electrical Engineering. First I attended Georgia Perimeter College with the intentions of getting my core classes done, I then transferred to Georgia Southern University in August of 2012. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Georgia Southern while working through my major, and in December of 2015 I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Throughout my time at Georgia Southern, I had the opportunity to work for MR Systems during the summers of 2013 and 2015 as an intern. I have since worked with MR Systems full time as a Field Service Engineer and have been able to expand my knowledge of instrumentation and electrical controls.

How did you learn about MR Systems?

I first learned about MR from Wade Cannon, he was able to give me an insight on what the company did overall and the product they produced. From what I learned through my discussions with Wade, I believed MR would be a valuable career opportunity and experience for me.

How has MR Systems changed since you started working here?

MR has continued to grow and succeed since my first internship in 2013.

How has MR Systems helped your career development?

MR has given me the opportunity to gain experience in the Water and Wastewater industry. It has also furthered my knowledge as a whole in instrumentation and electrical controls.

What is your proudest moment at MR Systems?

The overall proudest moment I have had so far would be the first time I climbed a water tank. Heights are not my most favorite thing in the world.

What are the most interesting and challenging projects you have worked on at MR Systems?

The most challenging project I have worked on was recently in Lowcountry, SC. On two separate occasions I worked with other field service employees to mount two 20 foot omni dipole antennas on two different water tanks. Since I only have a few climbs under my belt now, this was a definite challenge.

What advice do you have for future employees?

The best way to learn is from the people who have had the experience and knowledge first hand. Listen to the person who has done it, and you may learn something valuable along the way.
